Natural henna: what to know before your session
Natural henna is a paste made from the dried and ground leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant. Used for millennia, it stains the skin a warm brown that intensifies over 48 hours and lasts between 10 and 15 days.
Natural henna vs “black henna”
Natural henna contains no PPD (paraphenylenediamine). “Black henna” is not henna — it’s a chemical mix that can cause burns and severe allergic reactions. At Ririhenna, only natural henna is used, without exception.
How to prepare
- Exfoliate the area the day before your session to remove dead skin.
- Avoid creams and oils on the day — henna adheres better to clean, dry skin.
- Allow time: the paste should remain on the skin for 2 to 6 hours for optimal results.
After application
- Don’t wet the area for the first 12 hours.
- Apply a coconut oil + lemon mix to extend the life of your design.
- The stain will darken gradually — the final result appears at 48 hours.
Henna is universal
Henna belongs to no single culture or religion. It is a body art practiced across continents, for all occasions — weddings, celebrations, births, or simply the pleasure of wearing an ephemeral design.
